Mechel Glass is the Vice President of Community Outreach for CredAbility. Since joining CredAbility in 2007, she has helped develop and implement CredAbility’s online education programs, making preventive financial education classes and materials available to people in all 50 states via the Internet. She is responsible for developing curriculum and educational materials for online classes including webinars, podcasts and listen-on-demand classes. She is also responsible for managing the agency’s community outreach programs and staff, including five financial education specialists, in a 14-county area throughout metro Atlanta and north Georgia. Ms. Glass is an NFCC-certified Consumer Credit Counselor and Certified Consumer Credit Educator. She participates regularly in media interviews and speaking engagements to increase awareness of CredAbility programs and services. Ms. Glass has a BA degree in International Affairs with a minor in International Business from Kennesaw State University. She completed the project management curriculum from George Washington University and has her certification in Project Management. Prior to joining CredAbility, Ms. Glass served in the U.S. Army as a military intelligence analyst during the first Persian Gulf War. She was with IBM for 11 years during which time she held the position of educator and International Information Technology Project Manager, and completed IBM’s Leadership Training program. In 2005, she started the consulting services company Beat Debt, Inc., and developed educational games designed to teach concepts on reducing credit card debt and building up savings.
