Credit Counseling Blogger: Introducing Mechel Glass for CredAbility.org

Mechel Glass is the Director of Education for CredAbility. In this position, she is responsible for developing the curriculum and educational materials for online classes including webinars, podcasts, videos and listen-on-demand classes. She is responsible for managing the agency’s community outreach programs and staff, including financial education specialists in a 14-county area throughout metro Atlanta and north Georgia. She also manages the development and reporting of education partnerships online for the agency.

Since joining CredAbility in 2007, Glass has developed and implemented CredAbility’s education website, www.CredAbility.org/education, making financial education classes and materials available to people in all 50 states via the Internet.
Prior to joining CredAbility, Ms. Glass served in the U.S. Army as a military intelligence analyst during the first Persian Gulf War. She was with IBM for 11 years during which time she held the position of educator and International Information Technology Project Manager, and completed IBM’s Leadership Training program. In 2005, she started the consulting services company Beat Debt, Inc., and developed educational games and workshops designed to teach concepts on reducing credit card debt and building savings.

Glass is a certified financial educator through the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). She is also a certified project management professional through the Project Management Institute.

Glass has a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs with a minor in International Business from Kennesaw State University. She also started and sponsors a scholarship program called The Harima Scholarship that provides support for single working parents of children in certain Head Start programs.
